Why Instagram Meta AI Is Not Available on iPhone but Showing on Android

Nowadays, iPhone users are not able to find where the Meta AI option is. Moreover, they seem to be very frustrated that their Android friends can easily navigate to it. So, if you find the same difficulty, let me clarify one thing to you very clearly. Within your Direct Messages, when you tap on the search bar at the top, you will find the Meta AI option

However, if it is not available, there is a possibility that it is not currently properly rolled out. Read on to discover the underlying reasons, or follow our complete guide on how to fix Meta AI not showing on Instagram to get the feature right now.

Why is iPhone Left Behind?

I won’t be able to believe that on my iPhone 15 with my iOS version 26.5, Meta AI is not available. So, I thought it was a temporary glitch. To fix it, I started executing all the troubleshooting steps that most users do. For example, force-closing the Instagram app and trying to update my application. But nothing works at all.

On the other hand, my friend is using an Android device, the Samsung F14, with the latest version 15, which works accurately and properly, specifically for Instagram.

After diving into deep research, I figured out some common reasons behind this, why iPhone users are often stuck in between.

  • The Server-Side Rollout Trap (and why I lost): I found that my Instagram app was fully updated, but my account was unauthorized to access the latest features. However, Meta uses MobileConfig, which allows developers to check whether the particular feature should be fully rolled out or not. If you’re also seeing other Instagram AI features like Restyle not appearing, check our guide on how to fix Instagram Restyle not showing.
  • App Store Management: I know that Google and Apple have different review processes. Apple’s strict review process deeply and thoroughly checks every update before it goes live. On the other hand, Google’s policy is very simple, less rigorous for Android updates. In addition, Meta purposely slowed down the rollout process to make sure the stability and prevent app crashes. If it does so, the chances of penalties from Apple’s review process increase.
  • The RAM and Cache Conflict: I’ve even tried to erase the cache within my iPhone’s Settings. But then I remembered that iOS devices are not compatible with this option, just like Android ones. Instead, I got only two options: delete the app or execute the offloading process. Meanwhile, Android users just need to clear the cache to fix all temporary bugs.

Real-Life Case Study: Side-by-Side Comparison

To prove whether my device is seriously getting the problem, I have tested on both Android (Samsung F14) and iPhone 15. Both gadgets are properly connected to the high-bandwidth WiFi frequency, and the Instagram app is fully updated to the latest version.

Here is exactly what happened on both devices.

For iPhone:

Scenario 1:

I was just scrolling through Instagram, and then suddenly I remembered to know what college students are currently following for the trend. However, I have to give my sister a trendy outfit for her birthday. So, what I did; navigate to the Search icon on the home page. Then, search for the query, “best college outfits that girls are following.” So, here is the result that I got.

You can see that only reels or posts are coming, and I am not able to see where the Meta AI option is visible.

Scenario 2:

While chatting with my friend, he just asked me to go shopping. So, what did I do instead of browsing on any search engines? I just tried to search for someone who can help me out. I just tapped on the search bar at the start of the page. I found out the Meta AI option is available within the search bar of the direct message section. You can see in the following picture.

For Android:

Scenario 1:

My friend, who has a Samsung F14, opened their Instagram app. After that, he just moved towards the search bar, which is located at the end. Then, he typed down, “trending clothes for men.” And this is the output.

Scenario 2:

My friend launched the Instagram app and then moved towards the direct message or inbox section. Then, he found the search bar at the top of the page. Further, he just searched for “Meta AI.” Next, within the chat, he first turned on the option named “Create AI images of yourself with AI” under Imagine Yourself.

Afterwards, he just provided the prompt that to create a green peacock. And here is the outcome.

The Verdict! So, this actually proves that iPhone users can only find out the Meta AI option within their chat’s search bar section, not in the explore feed, just like an Android user.

Important Point!

If you are not able to get the option, we are here to help you out. In the upcoming sections, we will provide 100% proven steps that we have performed in real life.

Troubleshooting Steps for iPhone Users

As for my personal experience, these three troubleshooting solutions can be easily gotten rid of.

  1. Force Close the Instagram App.
  2. Offload Your App.
  3. Log out and Log In Again.

Now, see the workarounds below and choose which approach suits you well. But I recommend you to first try force-closing.

Method 1: Force Close the Instagram App.

If you find that the Meta AI option is not available, force-closing it can help you out, although my iPhone device gets the option back.

  • Come to the Home Screen of your device.
  • Swipe up from the bottom of your screen
  • Pause in the middle of the display.
  • Swipe left and look for Instagram
  • Firmly swipe up. It will fix the temporary errors.

Method 2: Offload Your App

In any case, if the above option doesn’t suit you well, this method will be your answer. I assure you that the following screenshots can help you out.

What I have done is:

  • I opened Settings on my iPhone.
  • Then, moved towards the General
  • Next, I looked for iPhone Storage
  • Scrolled down a bit to get the Instagram option.
  • Further, I tapped on Offload App
  • My device asked me to again tap on the Offload App option.

Method 3: Log Out and Log In Again.

If neither of the two solutions helps you out, I have one last option for you. This method is very simple and doesn’t require any technical knowledge.

  • Open your Instagram profile
  • Tap on the three horizontal lines or say hamburger menu.
  • Scroll down your existing page till the end of the page.
  • Tap on the Log Out option.
  • If you want to save your existing login credentials, tap on Save. Otherwise, you can opt for Not Now.
  • Lastly, choose Log Out

Now, to log in to the app, access the app. Here, you will get the login page. Fill out the credentials. That’s it!

Frequently Asked Questions Along With Their Answers

While performing the above troubleshooting steps, I usually encountered the following questions that I thought you should also know.

Q1. Why does my secondary Instagram account have Meta AI on my iPhone, but my primary account does not?

Ans. It happens because your first account has received Meta AI because of A/B testing. Or, rollouts have occurred on specific accounts.

Q2. Does changing my Instagram account to a Business or Creator account force Meta AI to appear?

Ans. NO! If you change your account settings, Meta AI won’t be able to appear if it is actually rolled out in your region.
